A Camden for all!
The General Election showed there is significant support for change in Camden. We urgently need better, more affordable housing yet the council is allowing property developers to build luxury housing, retail spaces and offices. The cost of living crisis and the rise in rents and mortgage prices has squeezed local people’s disposable income, forcing people into poverty or out of their homes.
There is a housing crisis across Camden, with rents and mortgages surging and a lack of anywhere near enough affordable housing. Social housing is hard to access and often is left in a state of disrepair, with reports of people waiting years for issues like mould to be addressed.
Despite repeated calls from groups and individuals, Camden Council refuses to divest from all companies involved in Israeli occupation and military assault of the West Bank and Gaza. We will work to raise local voices and make sure their demands are heard and actioned.
Who We Are & What We Do
We are a community-led organisation dedicated to strengthening democracy and transparency in Camden by empowering local residents to hold elected officials and corporations accountable. Our mission is to challenge the blurred boundaries between corporate and government power and foster a more inclusive, responsive political culture in the borough. Through grassroots activism, political education, and strategic alliance building, we aim to build a model of local democracy that can inspire other communities across the UK.
Our focus is on re-engaging marginalised and politically disengaged groups, particularly in communities affected by social inequality. We believe that by increasing political participation and creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration, we can cultivate a vibrant, transparent culture of democracy, activism, and community empowerment. Our work includes voter registration drives, with a target of 25,000 new voters in Camden by 2026, and establishing People’s Forums and community assemblies to amplify local voices and concerns.
